A message from the Students' Union President 21-22
Sam Fenton
On the road back to normality
'This academic year saw the RVC community take several significant steps towards a return to normal university life. Not least of which was the staggered return of in-person teaching, and the challenges that came with it. It was a privilege to witness the resilience with which the student body tackled the past 12 months, and the incredible achievements of my fellow students despite the challenges faced.
'With restrictions relaxed, our clubs and societies were able to return in full force, with some fantastic inter-university competition results. I have no doubt that the return of our clubs and societies gave the RVC its much needed injection of community spirit after the events of the last two years. This year also saw the revival of Camden vs Hawkshead Varsity, and the hugely successful May Ball.
'Nobody said that being the Students’ Union President in my final year of university would be easy. However, I owe a huge debt of gratitude to the students of RVC, and the SU officers and staff, who provided unwavering support throughout my term of office. The past 12 months have been a labour of love, and I look forward to seeing the RVC community continue to thrive.
'I wish the best of luck to all those continuing their studies, and to my fellow graduating classmates: Congratulations - we made it! I am looking forward to joining the ranks of our Alumni who have played such an important role in supporting our experiences and our education.'
