Scholarships
Scholarships are offered to students across all courses. Kindly funded by philanthropic gifts to the RVC, they provide essential funding for each year of the recipients’ course, making a massive difference to their time here and what they can achieve.
The aim of RVC scholarships is to enable promising students to study at the RVC who might otherwise have struggled financially and potentially might not have applied or taken up their place.
We know that your support can make a real difference to these individuals who have dreamed of a career in veterinary care, biological science or research but thought it beyond their means. RVC scholarships offer recipients £5,000 per academic year.

This year the ACT's first scholar student graduated!
The ACT Catt Scholarship
The ACT Catt Scholarship was created from a legacy gifted to us by Elizabeth Catt. She wanted to help students become 'effective members of the veterinary professions'. Olivia Bowsher tells us what receiving this scholarship meant to her...
'The Catt Scholarship has been incredible in many ways. From helping me financially to giving me extra motivation. It's given me the confidence to reach my best and achieve my potential.
'Thanks to this scholarship, I could attend placements all around the UK, in a variety of veterinary establishments without having to worry about the cost of the commute or accommodation if needed. It has allowed me to go to places that specialise in areas I hope to work in the future.
'After graduation I will be starting my new job as a small animal veterinary nurse in Derby. It will be the best feeling to receive my RCVS number and be able to find my name on the register of veterinary nurses!
'Being a student at the Royal Veterinary College was already an achievement I had dreamed of for many years but being a scholar student was something I never thought would come true. Now I'm a graduate, thank you so much'
Joseph, a MSci Biological Sciences student is a recipient of the RVC Rufus of Ruskinmere Sciences Scholarship. He shares his story...
'I could never have imagined the opportunities this scholarship has given to me. I would like to express how appreciative and thankful I am to the committee for awarding it. In the last 2 years, the biosciences programme has provided opportunities for me to explore areas of interest. Modules in brain development, pharmacology and immunology have been the highlights of my journey.
'Throughout the COVID 19 pandemic, the scholarship allowed me to live and study in London, despite difficulties with restrictions and regulations. Specifically, it gave me the freedom to return home during lockdowns and avoid long periods of isolation from my family. Ultimately, this has supported my health and well-being, which I believe is reflected in my work and results.
Giving back to the RVC community
'Currently, I am giving back to the RVC biosciences program through work with the Bioscience society. We have successfully organised and delivered an event with LBIC, to enable students to ask for advice on their future careers. Furthermore, we provide newsletter updates to students on community events and possible placements for them. We're planning to produce more events in the future involving lecturers at the RVC, so we can learn about their careers and receive any advice they have for aspiring students.
Aspirations
'As for me, once I have finished this final term and my work with miRNAs on calcium signalling, I will focus on immunology for my master’s year. I have really enjoyed my research into Immunosenescence and diets relation to the immune system, with the help of Donald Palmer. I would love to begin specialising in this areas.'
'I want to thank everyone on the committee one last time for what you have allowed me to achieve, and I will always be extremely grateful.'

'Receiving the RVC Linkou Scholarship has had a profound impact on my studies. It's alleviated some of the financial stress of managing a household as a single parent whilst studying as a mature student.'
